Moving Day -- Moving Houses from 'Hood to 'Hood

One of the posters at Simbology is in the process of cloning her Sims and moving them and their houses to another neighborhood.  In the process of helping her, we've come up with some techniques.  This tutorial helps you safely move houses from neighborhood to neighborhood.
If you want to keep their furniture, try this instead of putting the houses in the bin:

  1. Click the house still in the old neighborhood (still inhabited is ok)
  2. Package the lot from the Neighborhood Screen. Warning: Do not move to the Lot Bin!
  3. Repeat 1 and 2 for all houses
  4. Close the game
  5. Load a packaged house into Clean Installer
  6. Uncheck everything but lotsegmentforupload, especially anything that looks like any part of the Sim family or their friends and all custom content to prevent duplication
  7. Install to Teleports folder
  8. Repeat 5-7 for all packaged houses
  9. Start the game and move the houses from the Unoccupied Houses bin to the new 'hood

Warning: If you've already moved unoccupied houses to the bin, put them back in the original neighborhood first.  If you've moved occupied houses to the bin, put them into an empty "work" neighborhood first.
Warning: If it's a Maxis made house with a story controller, don't try moving it.
